How much is it to ship your car from California to Ohio?

Shipping my car from California to Ohio? Seriously, how much is this going to cost?! I was totally blindsided. I mean, nine hundred to fourteen hundred bucks? That's a HUGE chunk of my moving budget, a bigger chunk than I’d planned for, that’s for sure. It’s not like I'm shipping a goldfish, you know? It's my car, my trusty steed, the one that got me through so many late-night Taco Bell runs (don't judge!).

And the price range? Ugh. So frustrating! It seems like every quote I get is different. I talked to one place, and they quoted me $1200, but that was from Sacramento to Cleveland. Then another place said closer to $950, but it was for Los Angeles to Columbus, so… what's the deal? It’s driving me crazy trying to figure out the actual cost. I'm already stressing about packing everything else, and now this?!

I definitely need to get at least three or four more quotes before I even think about committing. My friend Sarah moved from Florida to Oregon last year and she said she got completely ripped off – ended up paying way more than she was quoted. So, yeah, I'm learning my lesson the hard way: shop around! It’s totally worth the time to avoid a financial meltdown. This is seriously impacting my moving budget – I might have to rethink that new patio set I was eyeing… maybe I’ll just stick with the old lawn chairs for a while.
