Okay, so lowest pollution cars, huh? Tricky. Electric cars are the obvious answer, right? Zero tailpipe emissions. My friend bought a Nissan Leaf – around $25,000 used, last year. It's pretty sweet.
But, charging can be a pain sometimes. Finding chargers on long road trips, for example. Range anxiety is real. Hybrids are a good compromise. My sister has a Toyota Prius, got it 2018, saved a decent amount on gas.
Extended-range electrics? They're like electric cars with a backup gas generator. Interesting concept but I haven't looked into them much. Hydrogen fuel cell cars? Sounds futuristic, but the infrastructure is basically non-existent around here.
Alternative fuels – biodiesel, ethanol – I've heard about them, but never personally seen one on the road. It's all about infrastructure really. Without readily available charging or fueling stations, the "best" eco-friendly car is subjective. It depends on your location and needs. Electric still leads though.
