What's the going rate for a fuel surcharge? Honestly, who knows?! It's a total crapshoot, isn't it? I mean, I've heard this whole "one cent per mile for every six-cent diesel increase" thing – like that's some kind of magical formula. But seriously? It's never that simple.

Remember that time I hauled that load of lumber from Oregon to Nevada? Diesel was, like, through the roof – and my surcharge? Way higher than that penny-per-mile nonsense. I felt completely robbed! I swear, they tacked on extra charges just because they could. It’s infuriating.

It's all so shady. Some companies are more upfront, I guess, but others… well, it's like they're playing a hidden game. There's no real standard, no real transparency. One contract's fine, the next one? Bam! Suddenly I'm paying through the nose, eating into my already slim profit margins. It makes you wonder, doesn't it?
