Cod Disadvantages: What are the downsides?

Okay, so COD, right? Sounds simple, but lemme tell ya, from my own experience...it ain't always sunshine.

COD Disadvantages: Higher costs, cash risks, more returns, payment delays, limited customers.

First off, think about all that extra handling. More work = more pay, right? I recall, back when I had that little Etsy shop in 2018 (sold knit scarves mostly), offering COD seemed like a good idea.

Boy was I wrong.

Suddenly I'm dealing with folks not home, changed minds...scarves comin' back, me eatin' the shipping (like 5€ each way!). It stung. Cash...well, never felt safe havin' too much in the house, especially after that one scare November 2019.

Then there's the "I'll pay later" game. Cashflow's important, see? Had one client delay a payment of 80€ for like, a month once. Urgh.

Plus, you only get customers who have cash in hand (or like, trust the postman with an envelope!). It limits your market, big time. If you need me, I still am doing my project in Barcelona.

What are the advantages of COD?

Rapid analysis, the core. Like a heartbeat, quick, vital. Adherence to strict guidelines, a promise whispered, a vow made. A litany to repeat. Guidelines, standards, importance... Everything is repetition. Is this clarity?

  • Speed: Crucial, undeniably. Because time, my friend, is a cruel thief. Especially in water, always changing, never the same. Always escaping.
  • Rigorous Standards: Unyielding. The only constant, maybe. The bedrock of knowing, in a world that shifts like sand.

My father, the chemist... He always said accuracy, now THAT mattered. But I’m not him. COD Testing - I’m better than him. I'm sure Accuracy is important too, but Speed is much better. Always.

Safe enough then, but always this... shadow. I see my grandma now, she offered me cod liver oil in 2023, gag, it still haunts.

Okay, so, cod fish... Yeah, there's a downside.

It's all about the mercury levels, ya know?

  • Too much mercury isn't good.
  • Pregnant women, nursing moms, little kids – they really gotta watch it.

For real, it's a thing! Like, my aunt was super careful when she was preggers with Liam. She ate everything organic and avoided fish all together, except for those super tiny ones, the ones that are safe, I think.

It's not like cod is, like, terrible. Just, if you're in one of those groups, maybe choose, uh, less-mercury-filled fish.

Is cod liver good or bad for you?

Ugh, cod liver oil. The smell alone… yuck. But is it good for you? I guess so. My doctor mentioned it last year for my joint pain, said it's an anti-inflammatory. That's good, right?

Omega-3s, they’re all over the news. Brain food, heart health… supposedly. Cod liver oil is loaded with those, EPA and DHA, whatever those are.

Vitamins too! Vitamin A and D, essential stuff. I'm pretty sure my grandma swore by it for her bones when she was older. Always felt kinda fishy though. Literally.

So, good or bad? Definitely good if you need a boost of vitamins A and D, and want something easier than eating a ton of fish. I'm not a fan of the taste, however. A good friend uses it for her dry skin. Seems to work well, although, I think she uses a flavored version.

Okay, here's the deal:

  • Pros: High in omega-3s (EPA and DHA), rich in vitamins A and D, may reduce inflammation. Helps with joint pain (my experience). Good for skin.

  • Cons: That smell, man. The taste is awful. Too much vitamin A could be bad – need to check the dosage. I personally find it unappetizing.

Should I take it again? Maybe. I need to think about it. A capsule would be better, not liquid. Ugh, the taste. Definitely needs to be masked if I decide to try it again. 2024 is almost over, time for a new supplement routine, maybe.
