How strong is the US economy in 2025?

Gosh, how's the US economy doing in 2025? It's a big question, right? I mean, it affects everyone, you know? My aunt, bless her heart, she's been worried sick about her retirement savings.

Anyway, I was reading something – S&P, those guys who are supposed to know this stuff – and they're predicting pretty moderate growth. Like, 1.9% increase in real GDP. Sounds kinda underwhelming, doesn't it? That's a definite slowdown from the 2.8% they're expecting for 2024. I remember hearing about that 2.8% figure, felt pretty good at the time, didn't it? Now, it seems kinda high in hindsight!

They think things will stay pretty sluggish after that too, hovering around 2% a year. Two percent! Doesn't sound that impressive, honestly, especially when you consider inflation and, you know, the cost of everything these days. Remember when gas prices went crazy a few years back? Man, that was rough. This feels like a similar kind of uncertainty, just a different flavor.

So, is that good or bad? I don’t know! Maybe 1.9% is decent, maybe it’s terrible. It really depends on what you're comparing it to, I guess. It just feels…slow. Like, we’re just kinda chugging along, not really booming, not really crashing, just... existing. And that's kinda unsettling in a way, you know? We all want a little bit of oomph in our economic lives, don’t we?
