Is $2 million net worth enough to retire?
Two million bucks by 65? Is that enough to retire? Man, that's a figure that dances in my head sometimes. I’d be tempted to call it quits, that's for sure. I mean, imagine! Two million! It feels like a giant pile of money. Enough for a cozy little place somewhere, maybe travel a bit. Remember that trip to Italy I always talked about? Maybe finally do that!
But then… the little voice of doubt creeps in. Is it really enough? Forever? What if I live to be 100? Okay, maybe not 100, but what if I live a long, healthy life, which I hope I do! That money has to last. And things are so expensive these days. I remember my grandparents talking about how a loaf of bread used to cost a nickel. A nickel! Now look at us! Inflation is a real beast, isn't it? Gnaws away at your savings.
So, yeah, two million is fantastic. Seriously impressive. But I'd still be a little nervous, I think. Constantly checking my investments, tweaking things, you know? Making sure I'm not spending too much. It's a lot of pressure, right? To make that money last. Maybe I’d still do some consulting work, just to be safe. Something low-key. Maybe teach a pottery class or something. Who knows! It’s a nice thought, though, retiring on two million. A very nice thought.
