How much do Thai people earn a month?

Is 2,700 USD a month good money in Thailand? Well, on paper, it sounds pretty sweet, doesn't it? But average salaries... they're so misleading! I mean, who actually earns the average, right? I'm guessing it's like most places – a few people making bank, skewing the numbers upwards, and then loads of people earning way less. Like, my friend's cousin teaches English there, and she definitely doesn't earn anywhere near that. She gets by, but it's not exactly luxury living. Then you hear about these expats living in fancy condos in Bangkok, splashing cash left and right... it's a whole different world. $2,700 USD could feel like a king's ransom in Chiang Mai, but barely enough to scrape by in a swanky part of the capital. I'd be curious to know how far that actually stretches. Rent, food, transportation… it all adds up. You know? It's just a number. Doesn't really tell the whole story of what life is actually like on that kind of salary.
