Who is Metrolinx CEO?
Michael Lindsay Appointed as Interim CEO of Metrolinx
Effective December 16th, 2024, Michael Lindsay will take on the interim leadership role of Metrolinx, the regional transportation agency for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
Lindsay's immediate mandate is to ensure the successful launch of the Eglinton Crosstown line, a crucial project that will significantly improve transit connectivity in the region. The 19-kilometer light rail line will run along Eglinton Avenue, connecting Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy station in the east.
Lindsay brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has served in various leadership positions at Metrolinx, most recently as Executive Vice President of Capital Projects and Chief Project Officer. In this capacity, he oversaw the development and delivery of major transportation infrastructure projects, including the Eglinton Crosstown line.
Prior to joining Metrolinx, Lindsay held senior management roles in the private sector, including Director of Capital Delivery at RTÉ, Ireland's national public service broadcaster. He also worked as a Project Manager at Iarnród Éireann, the Irish national railway company.
Lindsay's appointment comes at a crucial time for Metrolinx, which is facing increasing demands for transit services due to a growing population and the need for sustainable transportation options. Under his leadership, Metrolinx will continue to focus on improving the reliability and capacity of its transit network, while also exploring innovative technologies and partnerships to enhance the customer experience.
Lindsay's interim appointment is expected to last until a permanent CEO is selected through a competitive process. The board of directors of Metrolinx will launch a search for a permanent replacement in the coming months.
