Can I direct deposit into an account without my name on it? Ugh, I wish! Seriously, it's such a pain. I tried to do it once, for a friend, remember that time I was helping Sarah move and she needed me to collect her rent money? Total disaster. The bank wouldn't let me, wouldn't even budge. Turns out, direct deposit is really tied to your name. Makes sense, I guess, from a security standpoint. You don't want some random person getting your paycheck, right? Although, sometimes it feels a little too restrictive.

I mean, what if you're helping someone out? Or, like, you're managing a business account for a small non-profit - you'd think there'd be a better way! Sharing a joint account is definitely the easier route, provided you're one of the names on it. My husband and I have a joint account, and honestly, it's a lifesaver.
