Is it illegal for a 10 year old to have a credit card?
Seriously? A ten-year-old with a credit card? While its technically not illegal, its just not going to happen. No bank in their right mind would hand a ten-year-old that kind of financial responsibility. They cant even legally agree to the terms! Itd have to be their parents card, essentially. I mean, come on, a ten-year-old worrying about credit scores? Thats just ridiculous.
Is it illegal for a ten-year-old to have a credit card? Seriously? Ten! That made me chuckle, picturing it. Like, little Timmy swiping his card at the candy aisle, all proud of himself. Cute, right? But no, it’s not going to happen. I mean, technically, it’s probably not illegal in the sense that there isn’t a law specifically saying “No credit cards for ten-year-olds!” But it’s practically impossible. Think about it – no bank would do that! They’d be insane! My friend’s little sister tried to open a savings account when she was seven – she’d seen her mom do it, so she thought she was ready to handle money. They totally chuckled and told her, “Sweetheart, you need a parent with you!”. It’s the same principle. A ten-year-old can’t legally enter into a contract, so they can’t agree to the terms and conditions of a credit card agreement. That’s a pretty big hurdle, right? It’d have to be on their parents’ card – or, you know, maybe a pretend one made of cardboard. That’s what we used to do when I was a kid! We even made little “stores” and everything. A ten-year-old worrying about their credit score? That’s just…well, it’s adorable, in its own absurd way. They’re more likely to be worried about which Pokémon card to trade!
