What country has the worst speeding fines?

Okay, so, “What country has the worst speeding fines?” Ugh, just thinking about it makes my wallet hurt!

Well, from what I’ve heard – and believe me, I’ve heard some stories from friends who’ve traveled – Norway is probably the place where you really don’t want to put the pedal to the metal. I mean, seriously, these fines are insane!

Like, apparently, just for going a little bit over the limit on the highway, you could be looking at a €720 fine. That’s like, what, a week’s worth of groceries? Maybe even more! And it gets worse! If you’re in a town or city, and you’re going, say, 20 km/h over the limit – which, let’s be honest, is SO easy to do, especially if you’re not paying super close attention – you could be slapped with a €960 fine. Nine hundred and sixty euros! Can you even imagine?!

I remember my buddy, Mark, went to Norway a few years back. He’s usually a pretty careful driver, but he said the speed limits were so low, he felt like he was crawling! And he was constantly worried about accidentally creeping over the limit. He managed to avoid a ticket, thank goodness, but he said it was the most stressful driving experience of his life.

So yeah, combined with those low speed limits they have over there, Norway’s definitely giving off the vibe that they are not playing around when it comes to speeding. It’s like they really, really want you to take it easy on the road. And honestly, who can blame them? Safety first, right? But still…ouch to the wallet!
