BSMT? That’s Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation. Four-year program, right here in the Philippines.

It’s all about becoming a deck officer. Think navigation, ship handling, comms… basically running the show on a ship.

My cousin Arnie started his BSMT at Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) back in June 2023. Crazy expensive, something like ₱150,000 per semester. He said it was intense. Lots of simulations and practical stuff, not just books.

Wat is public wifi?

She’s always connected. Annoying. Always on her phone. What’s the point of public wifi if you pay? Defeats the purpose. She connects at cafes mostly. Like that place on Rue Antoine Dansaert, with the amazing coffee… hmm, Kopi Loewak? Expensive coffee, expensive wifi. Should just use her phone data. Data roaming in France was a nightmare. 2023 rates insane. Got a massive bill. Ugh. Proximus coverage isn’t great either, especially in the metro. I wonder if it works on the Thalys. Probably not. So, degrees. Got it. Now, maritime jobs. Deckhand. Captain. Pirate. Okay, maybe not pirate. Unless you consider corporate taxes piracy. Then, everyone’s a pirate. Me included. Especially around tax season. I once saw a seagull steal a french fry. Considered a maritime crime? Debatable.
