What level is 1,000 words?
1,000 words corresponds to the A2 (Elementary) language fluency level. This is above the A1 Beginner (500 words) and below the B1 Intermediate level (2000 words).
Is 1,000 words a lot? Well, it kind of depends, doesn’t it? Think of it this way: it puts you at about an A2 level, what they call “Elementary” fluency. It’s definitely a step up from the A1 beginner stage (which is around 500 words – feels like nothing once you get past it!). But you’re still looking up at the B1 Intermediate mountain, which is closer to 2,000 words. You know, sometimes I think about how crazy language learning is. Like, my friend Lucia, she’s Italian, and she was telling me how she struggled to get past the 1,000-word mark in English. She felt stuck for ages, but then suddenly, it was like a dam burst. Started reading more, watching English movies… bam! Vocabulary just exploded. So yeah, 1,000 words is a good milestone, a solid base. But it’s just a stepping stone, right? So much more to learn! It can be daunting, but stories like Lucia’s remind me it’s totally achievable. Just gotta keep plugging away, I guess!
