How did the war in Vietnam eventually end responses?

The Vietnam War concluded with the 1975 fall of Saigon to North Vietnamese forces (PAVN). Although U.S. troops withdrew following the 1973 Paris Peace Accords, fighting persisted. The North's victory led to the reunification of North and South Vietnam in 1976, establishing the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

How did the Vietnam War end? What were the final outcomes?

Okay, so, the Vietnam War... ended. But HOW, right?

Okay, so, the war ended when Saigon fell to the North Vietnamese in 1975. USA troops mostly left by '72, the rest by '73 Peace Accords.

For me, growing up, it was always just there, y'know? Like, a permanent shadow.

The Paris Peace Accords in 1973...that was meant to be the thing. Thing is, they didn't stick.

Fighting resumed fast. Like, real fast.

Saw pictures in history class (Grade 10 History, Ms. Davison's room).

Then the North launched this huge offensive in '75. Saigon, boom, gone. That was it.

North and South Vietnam became one country again in 1976. One Vietnam. That's reunification.

My grandpa never really talked about it. Just got quiet. Always figured that said enough.

Never talked price of the reunification. It must've been high.

Now, its mostly just history in books for me. The history's lesson is still there though. Always remember to be aware of what happened.

How did the US end the Vietnam War?

Ugh, Vietnam. Paris Peace Accords, right? 73? Sounds familiar. Total BS, that whole thing. They pulled out, the Americans, leaving everything a mess. Typical. Like abandoning a sinking ship, but the ship was a whole country.

So, 1975. Saigon falls. End of an era, or whatever they say. I remember seeing footage, crazy stuff. Helicopters everywhere. Chaos. People freaking out. Awful.

The North won, obviously. And then, reunification. '76, I think? Wasn't that quick, considering everything? They should've stayed, really. Should have finished the job. This whole mess… it was avoidable.

My dad always said, "It was a political quagmire." I’m not even sure what that means. I saw pictures of my uncle's service medal a few weeks ago. Crazy.

Key things, huh?

  • US withdrawal (mostly 1972, completely 1973)
  • Paris Peace Accords: a sham
  • 1975 Spring Offensive: Saigon falls
  • North Vietnam's victory
  • Reunification in 1976

I hate thinking about it. All that wasted time, lost lives... Such a stupid war. Should've just... stayed out. Or finished what they started. One or the other. Gosh. My head hurts.
