Can an aircraft carrier flip over?

Can an aircraft carrier flip over? I've heard folks ask this, and I gotta say, the image of that just pops into my head sometimes – this behemoth of metal just… kerplunk, upside down! It's crazy, right? But seriously, could it actually happen? Nah, pretty much impossible. I mean, think about how WIDE these things are at the waterline. Seriously, it's ridiculous – wider than a football field, easy. And that, my friend, is the key. That massive width gives it such a low center of gravity, and the buoyant force pushing up from the water… it's distributed so evenly across the hull. Like, imagine trying to flip a dinner plate just by pushing up on the bottom. Not a chance. You know how sometimes you see a kayak tip over? That's because it's narrow and top-heavy. An aircraft carrier? Totally different story. They’re built to withstand insane weather and waves, too. I remember seeing a documentary once showing a carrier in a huge storm, and the thing was rocking and rolling, but it stayed upright. It was wild!
