Is the Mekong River in a wet season?

Yes, the Mekong River is generally in its wet season from June to November. During this period, the monsoon brings heavy rainfall across most of the Mekong basin. The dry season, characterized by cooler temperatures and low rainfall (except in the Mekong Delta), spans from December to May.

Is the Mekong River experiencing its wet season?

Ugh, Mekong River's wet season? Let me think…

June to November, that's the monsoon. Torrential rain, I saw it myself in Luang Prabang, Laos, last July. Flooded streets, crazy.

Remember the prices of local produce skyrocketing? Everything was so expensive then! Maybe double the usual cost.

Except for some parts, though. The Mekong Delta, apparently it's different. Kratie and parts of Vietnam are wetter, even in the dry season, December to May, I heard. Weird.

So yeah, wet season is June-November, generally. But it's complicated, you know? Not a simple answer.

What are the three seasons in Vietnam?

Hmm, Vietnam seasons, right? Okay, so, it's not as simple as like, four seasons everywhere, dang it!

  • Northern Vietnam: Spring (Feb-Apr), Summer (May-Aug), Autumn (Sep-Nov), and Winter (Dec-Jan). Four! Like...normal-ish.

Wait, Mom visited Da Nang last year.

  • Southern Vietnam: Only two seasons: Dry (Nov-Apr) and Rainy (May-Oct). So, which is it? Three? Depends where?

Is there a central Vietnam? Does it have three? Argh. Need coffee. Why am I even thinking about Vietnam's weather right now?

Central Vietnam – Should be noted. Rainy and dry, or like, something else entirely? Oh, flood season sometimes!

  • Northern Vietnam: Reminds me, I need a new winter coat.

  • Southern Vietnam: Planning to visit Ho Chi Minh next year.

  • Central Vietnam is definitely... complicated.
