What is the median of data 13 16 12 14 19 12 14 13 14?
The median of the data set (13, 16, 12, 14, 19, 12, 14, 13, 14) is 14. This is also the mode of the data.
Okay, so I was looking at this data set the other day – 13, 16, 12, 14, 19, 12, 14, 13, 14. It was, uh, part of some totally unrelated project, I swear! I needed to find the median, you know, the middle number. And honestly, at first, I was a little overwhelmed. Numbers, numbers everywhere! Reminds me of that time I tried to balance my checkbook – total disaster. Anyway…
So, I figured I’d have to put them all in order first. Right? Seemed logical. That’s like, basic math, right? After arranging them it goes: 12, 12, 13, 13, 14, 14, 14, 16, 19. It’s like a little number parade!
Then, I found the middle one – which, wouldn’t you know it, turned out to be 14! So the median is 14. Pretty straightforward, once you get past the initial “Ugh, numbers!” feeling.
And get this – 14 is also the mode. That’s the number that appears most often. Crazy, huh? I mean, three 14s? That’s more 14s than I can count on one hand while simultaneously trying to remember my grocery list. Seriously, is it just me or is my brain less efficient than it used to be? Probably just the stress of all these numbers…
