Which is worse for the environment, ships or planes?

While both ships and planes harm the environment, it's complex. Ships emit significant CO2 absorbed by oceans, increasing acidification. Planes release greenhouse gases at high altitudes, intensifying their warming impact. The "worse" option depends on factors like fuel type and distance traveled.

Ships vs. Planes: Which mode of transport is more eco-friendly?

Okay, so eco-friendlier, huh? Planes versus ships… tricky. I've flown tons – London to New York, last July, cost a fortune – and the sheer amount of fuel those things guzzle is insane.

The noise alone, that's environmentally damaging in itself, right? Stress levels rise, probably contributing to health issues somewhere down the line.

Ships though, I saw a massive container ship in the Rotterdam port last year (October 17th, to be precise). Those things are monstrous. The sheer scale... it's mind-boggling. And all that fuel...

The thing is, the CO2 from ships dissolving in the ocean is a whole other can of worms. It's not just hanging in the atmosphere. Is that actually better? I'm genuinely unsure. More research needed, I think.

It's complex. Both cause huge pollution. I'm leaning towards planes being slightly worse, but I'm no expert, obviously. Need more info!
