How long are breaks in Japanese high school?
So, you're wondering about breaks in Japanese high school? Man, those kids get some breaks, let me tell you! I remember reading about it once, it completely blew my mind compared to my own high school experience. I mean, we basically got a week off at Christmas and maybe a slightly longer break in the summer if we were lucky… and that was it. Brutal!
Anyway, the Japanese system is way different. They have a summer break, which is pretty long – think late July to late August. That’s almost a whole month! I remember seeing pictures of my friend's cousin in Japan on Instagram, she was at the beach, looked totally relaxed. Jealous much? Totally.
Then there’s winter break, late December to early January, giving them time for that whole New Year's thing which is apparently a HUGE deal there. And finally, there’s spring break, which is late March to early April – perfect timing for cherry blossom season! Can you imagine? A month off in the summer, plus a couple of shorter breaks… that's more vacation time than I saw in my whole high school career, honestly. It seems like a really different approach, huh? Makes you wonder if they're more productive because of it, or maybe just better at relaxing. I’d love to know what the research says on that one, but even if they aren’t more productive... doesn’t that sound like a dream?
