How many people make over 200k in a year?

Gosh, you know, I've always wondered that myself! How many people actually make over $200,000 a year? It feels like a completely different world, doesn't it? Like, something you only see in movies, maybe.

I mean, I remember my aunt Millie used to brag about making six figures, and that felt like a fortune to me back then. Now, I read that around 14.88 million households in the US hit the $200,000 mark in 2022. That's a lot of households, right? But it also still feels like a tiny fraction when you think about the total population. Crazy. It makes you wonder who those people are, you know? Doctors? Tech CEOs? Hedge fund managers? Probably a bit of everything, I guess. And it makes me wonder, honestly, what it would even be like to have that kind of income. Would I even know what to do with all that money? Probably just end up donating a huge chunk to charity, haha, after I paid off my student loans, of course. That's the dream, anyway.
