How much money does a person need for a lifetime?
How much money do you really need for a lifetime? Three point three million dollars?! Whoa. That's terrifying, isn't it? Seriously, just thinking about it makes my stomach churn. I mean, housing – don't even get me started. It feels like throwing money into a bottomless pit, you know? And healthcare? Don't even pretend it's affordable anymore! My aunt, bless her heart, just had a minor procedure, and the bill was... well, let's just say I'm still recovering from the sticker shock. That was just a minor procedure!
Then there's everything else. Groceries, which seem to get more expensive every week. Gas, which I swear is a conspiracy to keep us all broke. Little things, you know? They add up. Like, really add up. Faster than you can say "inflation." It's enough to make you want to hide under the covers and never emerge.
But, okay, deep breaths. It also makes me want to get serious about budgeting. I remember this one time, years ago, I was so careless with money. I bought that vintage record player I always wanted, even though I was already kinda strapped for cash. It was awesome, don't get me wrong, but boy, did I pay for that impulsive purchase later. Lessons learned! So yeah, $3.3 million is a huge number, but maybe if I'm really, really careful... and maybe win the lottery... just kidding (mostly). But seriously, I need a better plan. A really, really good one.
