Vietnam Fast Food Prices: Cheap or Expensive?

Okay, so Vietnam fast food prices… tricky! Compared to local eats, it’s pricier. Think, street pho for $1, versus a burger combo at Lotteria for, maybe $4-$5? Definitely more expensive.

But, lunch deals are a lifesaver. Seriously, almost every chain – KFC, Jollibee, Lotteria – has killer lunch specials. Eleven to two, weekdays. I remember grabbing a great deal at KFC in Hanoi last July, around 1pm.

So yeah, not cheap, but manageable if you hunt for those lunch offers. Makes a big difference to your budget, trust me. It’s a total game changer.

How much dong is a meal in Vietnam?

Dong… Vietnam. Food. Ok, right. I paid 50,000 VND for pho last time. At that one place near Hoan Kiem Lake? Oh man, that was good pho. Was it 50k or closer to 60k? Whatever.

Street food is cheap, like 20k for banh mi, I swear. Those ladies with the carts…banh mi queens.

  • Pho: 30,000 – 60,000 VND
  • Banh Mi: 20,000 – 30,000 VND
  • Com Tam (broken rice): 35,000 – 70,000 VND

Com Tam, that’s rice with pork chops. Always so filling. $1 – $3 bucks…ish. So cheap. Can’t get that anywhere else. Am I even calculating this right? Wait, what is the exchange rate today?

Currency Conversion (July 2024): 1 USD ≈ 25,450 VND

How much is street food in Vietnam in Dong?

Pho: 30,000 VND. Banh mi: 20,000 VND. Com tam: 40,000 VND. A bargain, really.

Costs depend. Location matters. Hanoi is cheaper than Ho Chi Minh City. My lunch cost less than my coffee, sometimes.

Drink prices? Bia hoi, 10,000 VND. Water, 15,000 VND. Chaotic, isn’t it?

  • Currency rates fluctuate. Check daily. 25,000 VND roughly equals $1 USD. Or close enough.
  • Negotiate prices, particularly in markets. Sometimes.
  • Beware tourist traps. Obvious ones.
  • Enjoy the chaos. Food is the point.
  • Prices are estimates. Your experience could diverge. Consider it an adventure.
  • The true cost: the experience, of course. priceless. What is money?
  • Assume a daily food budget. Maybe 200,000 VND. Or maybe much more. Depends on thirst.
  • I overpaid for spring rolls once. Didn’t care.
