What do you call someone who steals often?
What do you call someone who steals all the time? Ugh, it's infuriating, right? Like, seriously frustrating! I mean, sure, you could just call them a thief, plain and simple. But then there's kleptomania, which, honestly, I only learned about a few years ago. My aunt's friend's daughter, bless her heart, had it – she'd swipe little things, like a lipstick here, a scarf there, even though she had plenty of both already. It broke my heart to hear about it. It’s not just, "Oh, she's a bad person," you know? It sounds like a terrible, awful struggle, this uncontrollable urge to steal. It's a mental health thing, apparently, not just some deliberate act of meanness. Which, you know, doesn't excuse it, not at all. But still... Maybe understanding that it might be a genuine disorder helps in finding them some support? Getting them some help? I really hope so. Because it seems terribly hard to live with.
