What to expect at the age of 15?
At 15, girls are typically physically mature, while boys may still be developing. Body image concerns and eating disorders, especially among girls, can be common. Teens may be sensitive about their size, shape, and weight.
Fifteen, huh? It’s such a weird age, isn’t it? Like, you’re not a little kid anymore, but definitely not an adult either. So much is going on! I remember being fifteen… so much drama.
One thing that’s definitely happening is, like, major body changes. For girls, they’re often pretty much physically grown up by this point. But boys? They can still be all gangly and awkward, kind of like puppies whose paws are too big. Remember my cousin, Mark? He was practically six feet tall at fifteen, but still had that little-kid squeak in his voice! It was hilarious.
This whole body changing thing can be really tough, though. Especially for girls, I think. So much pressure to look a certain way. I remember constantly comparing myself to magazine pictures and feeling like I didn’t measure up. It’s so easy to get caught up in worrying about your size and shape and weight. Eating disorders, sadly, can be a real thing at this age. It’s scary, right? You’re trying to figure out who you are, and then there’s this pressure too. It’s important to talk about it, though, if you’re struggling. There are people who can help. I wish I’d known that back then.
