Where do most home robberies occur?
You know, it's scary to think about, but where do burglars usually break in? I was reading about this the other day, and honestly, it kinda freaked me out. Apparently, the first floor is the main target. Something like 81% of break-ins happen there! Can you believe that? It makes sense though, right? It's the easiest to get to. I remember when my aunt and uncle had their house broken into, it was through a sliding glass door on their patio – totally first floor.
And back doors? Huge vulnerability. 22% of burglaries happen that way. I mean, who hasn't left their back door unlocked for just a second while they run out to the garden or grab something from the car? Makes you think twice, doesn't it?
Basements are less common, thank goodness. Only about 9% of attempted entries are through the basement. I guess most people have their basement windows secured pretty well… or maybe burglars just don't want to deal with the hassle of going downstairs? Who knows. And the second floor? Hardly ever. Like, 2%. So, I guess if you're really worried, just camp out upstairs! (Just kidding... kind of.) But seriously, it's good to be aware of these things, isn't it? Makes you feel a little more prepared, I think.
