Which country drinks coffee the most?
Finland consumes the most coffee per capita globally, at approximately 12 kg per person annually. Norway, Iceland, and Denmark follow, making Nordic countries the top coffee-drinking nations.
Wow, did you know Finland practically swims in coffee? I mean, 12 kg per person per year?! That’s insane! I remember visiting my friend Anya in Helsinki once, and I swear, every hour was fika time. Coffee and pastries, coffee and a chat, coffee and…well, more coffee! It was glorious, of course, but I definitely couldn’t keep up. I think I topped out at, like, three cups a day? Which, compared to the Finns, makes me look like a total lightweight, ha!
So yeah, Finland takes the crown. Then you’ve got Norway, Iceland, and Denmark rounding out the top coffee-loving countries. Makes sense, right? Those long, dark winters… who wouldn’t crave a warm, comforting cup (or twelve kilos worth!) of coffee? I know I would! It makes you wonder… what’s in the water (or, I guess, the coffee) up there in the Nordic countries?!
