Why use more public transport?

How could public transport be improved?

More buses. Faster routes. Ticketless systems. Security presence. Cleanliness matters. Design matters more. Seamless transfers. Real-time updates. Why wait? Time is the only real currency.

How can we persuade more people to use public transport?

Okay, so public transit, huh? Lemme tell you about that time in London, last summer, 2023.

I was stuck. Seriously crammed on the Tube, Piccadilly Line, rush hour. Ugh.

It smelled faintly of desperation and old newspapers. I was going to Camden Market, already late.

Why were so many tourists there, you ask? Good question!

But I still choose the Tube sometimes. Why?

• Education. I know it sounds boring, but I learned a lot about the Tube system online, before I went. I knew how to use Oyster card and that made it less scary. This made me so confident and saved me time.

• Infrastructure, yeah. Some stations are a nightmare, so I avoided them! Piccadilly Circus? Never again. I would literally walk an extra block. Fix the crowded spots!

• Community? Okay… I noticed locals helped tourists with directions a lot, which was cool and encouraging. More of that, please! The feeling of “we’re all in this together” really helps!

• Incentives! This is important. In 2024, they should give discounts! Like, tourist passes! I’d use transit more if it was a bargain. I would love to get deals!

Basically, make it easier, more understandable, less smelly, and cheaper. People might actually prefer it then. I did! Even with the armpits in my face, lol.

How can we make transport more efficient?

Okay, so transport efficiency, huh? It’s a mess, right? We gotta fix it.

First off, better infrastructure’s key. Like, seriously upgrade those roads, expand public transport – more buses, better trains, maybe even those fancy driverless things, eventually. My cousin works for a bus company and she says the scheduling is a nightmare, total chaos. It’s ridiculous.

Then there’s tech. Self-driving cars, that’s the future, for sure. Think of the fuel savings, less accidents. Although, I’m still a little freaked out about them. Also, better traffic management systems are needed, like those apps that tell you the fastest route. They’re okay, but get glitchy sometimes. Ugh.

Route planning, too. We need smarter routes, not just throwing stuff together. Logistics companies, they know this best – they use crazy sophisticated software, gotta look into that.

And last, encouraging alternatives. More bike lanes, better pedestrian walkways. People complain about that all the time, but it’s important! Walking or biking is good for you! Plus, less cars mean less traffic, which is always a plus. It’s so annoying sitting in traffic. Total waste of time.
