Is it best of 5 or 7 in the MLB playoffs?
Okay, so in the MLB playoffs, its not a one-size-fits-all thing. Honestly, I find it a bit annoying! The Division Series is only a best-of-five, which feels way too short and leaves too much room for upsets. Then, finally, when it gets REALLY good and nail-biting, the League Championship Series and World Series bump it up to a best-of-seven! And higher seeds get to host key games in those series. Its a mixed bag, but hey, at least the stakes get higher as we go!
Best of five or seven in the MLB playoffs? Ugh, that’s a tough one, isn’t it? It feels so… inconsistent, you know? I mean, the Division Series is best-of-five. Five games! Seriously? That’s barely enough time to get a feel for the pitching matchups, let alone any real momentum. It feels way too short, like a total crapshoot. Remember that 2019 ALDS where the Twins completely choked against the Yankees after winning the first two games? Brutal! That series highlights just how quickly things can flip.
Then, bam! Suddenly we’re in the ALCS or NLCS, and it’s a best-of-seven. Suddenly, it feels right. More games give the better team, the one that really deserves it, a better chance to shine. Seven games? Now that’s what I’m talking about! And the World Series? Best-of-seven, too. The pressure’s higher, the stakes are enormous, every at-bat feels like it could change everything. And, okay, yeah, the home-field advantage thing in later series… I get it, reward the higher seed, but sometimes I wish it was a little different. My friend swears by eliminating the home-field advantage completely, saying it could make the series even better but, I’m not so sure. That’s a whole other debate though!
So, is there a perfect answer? Probably not. It’s a mixed bag, a complicated system for sure, but I guess the excitement builds as the series get longer… even if the best-of-five feels a little too quick and dirty for such high stakes, you know?
