What is movement efficiency?
Okay, so what is movement efficiency, anyway? It's something I've been thinking about a lot lately, especially since I started that new yoga class – wow, my body was sore the first few times! It's not just about being strong, you know? It's about skill and, well, awareness. Like, really knowing what your body's doing.
It's this amazing combination of things. You need to understand how your body's positioned to stay balanced, right? Otherwise, you're constantly wobbling and fighting yourself. And then there's the intentionality of it all – moving with purpose, not just flailing around! Remember that time I tried to run a marathon without any training? Yeah, that was not efficient. I spent more time gasping for air than actually running. Total waste of energy!
The real goal, though? It's minimizing how much energy you use while still having total control. I think of my grandmother, who, even in her 80s, moved with such grace. She could carry a full shopping basket, effortlessly, practically floating down the street. That’s efficiency – she wasn't wasting a single ounce of energy. Makes me wish I had a fraction of her effortless grace! Maybe I'll start practicing...or at least take more yoga.
