Are you allowed to ship electronics?

Shipping electronics is generally allowed. However, used, damaged, or defective electronics with lithium batteries MUST ship by ground. Air transport of these items is prohibited.

So, you’re wondering if you can ship electronics, huh? It’s a totally valid question! I mean, who hasn’t wrestled a box of tech to the post office at some point? It’s usually fine, thankfully. Most electronics are good to go.

But here’s the thing – and this is important – used stuff, or anything that’s, like, broken or kinda dodgy? Especially if it has a lithium battery? Forget air shipping. Nope. Absolutely not. I learned this the hard way, actually. My cousin tried to send his old, beat-up laptop (with a battery that puffed up like a balloon!) via airmail. Let’s just say the postal service wasn’t thrilled, and neither was he. He had to pick it up from some special hazmat facility – the whole thing was a nightmare! Ground shipping only for that kind of thing, apparently. It’s a safety thing, I guess. Makes sense. I wouldn’t want a plane full of exploding laptops either.

So, yeah, bottom line: Generally speaking, you can ship electronics. But if they’re old, busted, or have those iffy lithium batteries, stick to ground shipping. You’ll save yourself a huge headache, trust me. Think of my cousin’s misadventure! Seriously, don’t repeat his mistakes.
