Can a plane fly if an engine falls off?
Can a plane fly with a missing engine? Seriously, that thought terrifies me! Just imagining it… my heart pounds. I'd be a mess, a total wreck, clutching the armrests for dear life! Thankfully, though, they can glide. I saw this documentary once—I think it was on the Discovery Channel?—where they explained how planes are designed to handle engine failure. It's not like they just float gently down, though. Nope, it's a controlled descent. More like a very, very steep slide. And altitude is key. The higher the plane is, the more time the pilots have to, you know, figure things out and find a safe place to land. Imagine being way up high, and suddenly... boom. Engine gone. I remember this one time I was flying through some crazy turbulence, and even that was scary enough. This? This would be a whole other level of panic. Seriously, I’d be praying, bargaining with any higher power that would listen, promising to be a better person and everything. Just get me on the ground!
