Can people watch you through your Ring camera?

Ugh, isn't it creepy to think someone could be watching you through your own Ring camera? It's like something out of a horror movie! Yes, unfortunately, it is possible. If some hacker manages to break into your Ring account, they could totally see your live feed. And all those videos you’ve saved? Gone, potentially theirs to see. Think about it – all those embarrassing moments captured forever… shudder. So, what can you do?

Deleting old footage is a good start. Kind of like locking the barn door after the horse has bolted, but, you know, better than nothing, right? Less stuff for them to potentially see. I remember when my neighbor had their Ring hacked - thankfully they didn't have much saved, just a few videos of squirrels raiding the bird feeder. Still, pretty unsettling!

Another thing – and I’m no tech whiz here, but my nephew, who practically lives online, told me this – using a VPN on your home network is a really good idea. It's like adding an extra layer of security, making it much harder for those pesky hackers to get in. I mean, I don’t really understand all the technical jargon, but he explained it as being like having a secret, encrypted tunnel for your internet traffic. Sounds pretty safe to me. So, yeah, definitely worth looking into a VPN. Keeps your Ring, and everything else, a bit safer. Who wants to be a star in someone else’s creepy show, anyway? Not me!
