Do ships pollute more than planes?

Yes, ships generally pollute more than planes per passenger. A seven-day cruise can generate over three times more carbon emissions than a round-trip flight and comparable hotel stay. While aircraft emissions are significant, the sheer volume and heavy fuel oil often used by cruise ships contribute to higher overall pollution.

Do ships pollute more than airplanes, impacting the environment?

Okay, let's see...do ships really pollute more than planes? Honestly, it's something I've wondered about too.

A seven-day cruise pollutes 3x more than flying. Wow. Staying abroad adds extra carbon use too.

I remember back in 2018. I took a Carnival Cruise out of Galveston, Texas. Cost me maybe $800? Felt luxurious, but maybe I shuld feel guilty now?

I also flew to see my aunt in Phoenix a few years back. Roundtrip flights, probly less impact, huh? See, I'm kinda confused, but this is intersting.

I guess those massive cruise ships chugging along just burn a ton of fuel, and not the clean stuff! The sheer scale of em, is mind-boggling. I need to learn more. ????

What is worse for the environment, planes or cruise ships?

Okay, so, like, is flying worse than cruises? Uh, I think cruises are way worse, actually.

I remeber reading this thing, the ICCT, not sure what that stands for, but they said even like the BEST cruise ships, you know, still dump out more CO2 per person than a freakin' airplane.

And the thing is, it's not just the air pollution, right? I mean, waste is a HUGE freakin' problem with cruises, like, giant floating garbage cans practically. It's wild. I think my uncle, Jim, told me something like that.

  • Cruises spew out more CO2.
  • They make a LOT of waste.
  • Planes are bad, but cruises...wow.
  • Oh yea and my uncle Jim's boat is worse than both because it leaks oil!
