Does PayPal protect buyers and sellers?

Does PayPal really protect buyers and sellers? That's a question I've wrestled with, honestly. As a seller, yeah, PayPal definitely gives me some peace of mind. It's a huge relief knowing they're there if a payment goes south, you know? Like that time some guy claimed he never received a vintage Star Wars action figure I shipped – the one I spent ages tracking down! Talk about stressful. But PayPal stepped in, thankfully, after I provided all the tracking info and photos. Got my money back, even the chargeback fee! Amazing.

But let me tell you, it's not exactly a walk in the park. The whole process is a bit of a headache, a real bureaucratic jungle sometimes. You have to jump through hoops, provide tons of documentation. It felt like an interrogation, honestly! So, while it’s a safety net, I’m always extra cautious. I meticulously document everything now – pictures of the item, proof of shipping, even screenshots of the conversation with the buyer. Overkill? Maybe. But after that Star Wars fiasco? Worth it. I'd rather be overly prepared than have to go through that whole stressful mess again. It's a mixed bag, really. A necessary evil, perhaps? But I still wouldn’t sell anything without it.
