Does SpaceX get NASA funding?
Does SpaceX get NASA funding? Well, yeah, they do. And let me tell you, it’s a LOT. Over $13 billion! I mean, seriously?! That’s mind-boggling. I was reading about it the other day, and it honestly kind of blew my mind. Good for Elon Musk and all, right? SpaceX has done some incredible things, landing rockets and all that jazz – I saw a video once of one of their landings; it was insane. But still… $13 billion? That’s like… I don’t even know what you could do with that kind of money. Probably solve world hunger and still have enough left over for a small island nation, you know?
It makes me a little nervous, I’ll be honest. I’m all for progress and space exploration – who doesn’t love the idea of humans on Mars someday? – but so much money going to one company? Is that really the smartest way to do this? What about other companies? What about NASA itself doing more of the heavy lifting? I remember when NASA was the name in space; everyone dreamed of being an astronaut. Now it seems like SpaceX is taking center stage. I mean, are we putting all our space eggs in one basket? Isn’t that, like, a risky strategy?
And it’s taxpayer money, too! Ours! Mine! Yours! It’s just… a lot to think about. It feels a little unbalanced, like maybe things are tilted a bit too far in one direction. I don’t have all the answers, I’m just saying… it makes you wonder.
