So, you’re wondering if anyone can still see your Tinder profile after you’ve paused it? Right? I get it, that’s a total anxiety-inducing question. I mean, who wants their dating profile hanging around out there like a ghost, even if you’re taking a break?

The short answer is no, thankfully. At least, that’s what Tinder says. When you deactivate, your profile disappears completely. Poof! Gone! Like that awkward ex you swore you’d never think about again… until you do. (Okay, maybe that’s just me). They claim your data gets deleted according to their privacy policy, which is… a policy, so it’s as reassuring as a politician’s promise, right?

But here’s the thing – I remember a time I tried to “hide” my profile instead of deactivating. I thought, oh, clever me, a little break! Turns out, “hiding” isn’t quite the same as complete invisibility. I still got a few random likes, which…yeah, kinda creepy. It felt like playing peek-a-boo with my dating life, only the boo part was a little unnerving. Much more stressful than just ripping off the band-aid and deactivating, honestly. So maybe just deactivate, unless you really have a need to hang around in the shadows. Then again, if you’re that desperate for a little attention, maybe Tinder is the wrong place?
