What current country has the fastest maglev train?
You know, I was just wondering about this the other day! Which country has the zippiest maglev train? Turns out it's China. Isn't that kind of surprising? I mean, I always think of Japan and bullet trains, but nope, China takes the cake for maglev. They have this train, the Shanghai Maglev, and it's seriously fast. It uses tech from Germany, Transrapid something or other, but the point is, it goes a whopping 300 km/h (or about 186 mph if you're like me and think in miles). That's crazy fast, right? I remember reading somewhere – I think it was a Popular Mechanics, maybe? – that it makes the trip from the airport to the city in like, what, eight minutes? Something ridiculous like that. So yeah, fastest commercial maglev, anyway. There might be experimental ones that are faster, who knows? But for now, China's got the bragging rights.
