What engine is in a GO Train?

So, you’re wondering what kind of engine powers those GO Trains, huh? I always thought it was kind of a cool thing, honestly. It’s mostly MPI MP40 locomotives – I actually saw one up close once, near the station, big and imposing things, they are. There are, like, ninety of them, I think I read somewhere, chugging around pulling those double-decker Bombardier cars. You know the ones – the ones that always seem packed to the rafters during rush hour? Yeah, those. They ferry around – get this – over 53 MILLION people a year! That’s insane, right? I mean, just thinking about that number blows my mind. Imagine the sheer amount of coffee consumed on those trains alone. Probably enough to fill a small lake! Anyway, those MP40s, they’re the workhorses of the GO Transit system, keeping the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area moving. Pretty impressive, if you ask me. They’re certainly more powerful than my little Honda Civic, that’s for sure!
