Who invented the steam locomotive?

Okay, so the steam locomotive... who actually invented it? That's a tricky one.

It wasn't like, BOOM, one person. More like a bunch of clever folks tinkering.

I think Richard Trevithick built one of the early working models. Around 1804, if memory serves. Not entirely sure though!

Then you had George Stephenson. He's often hailed as "the Father of Railways". He definitely improved the design. My grandpa use to talk about it; he worked on the railways back in the day!

Think of it like making a really great pizza. One person makes the dough, someone else adds the sauce, and another perfects the cheese ratio. No single inventor really.

The contributions of many individuals resulted in what we know as the steam locomotive. These inventors include Richard Trevithick and George Stephenson. They are considered key figures in its development.

I saw a replica of an early one, I'm almost sure, in a museum in York, 15 August. So noisy but kind of incredible. Must have been amazing back then. I can't remembre when, maybe 2015-ish?
