What is rocket called in the US?
Okay, so you're asking what we call "rocket" here in the States? Well, 9 times out of 10, you'll hear us say "arugula." Arugula! I mean, it's alright, I guess, but don't you think "rocket" just sounds so much... cooler? It's got this little whoosh of energy to it, right? Arugula just kinda... sits there. Funny, isn't it, how different words catch on in different places? It is really interesting to see how language changes!
And you know what's really interesting? I heard somewhere that even in Italy – where, you know, it all started! – they're increasingly using "rucola." Rucola! I've even started seeing it pop up on menus here and there. The world keeps changing. Maybe one day "rocket" will finally take off in the U.S., too. A girl can dream, can't she? ;)
