Okay, so, mobile device security. Super important, right? I mean, who hasn’t left their phone somewhere and panicked? I know I have – once I left it in a cafe bathroom, talk about a mini heart attack! Luckily, someone turned it in. But that made me really rethink how I secure my phone.

The best practice? Well, it sounds obvious, but keeping your phone secured is key. What does that mean though? For starters, don’t – and I cannot stress this enough – don’t leave your phone unattended in public. Like, ever. The cafe incident taught me that. It’s just asking for trouble, isn’t it?

And, duh, password protection! I know, I know, it’s annoying to type it in all the time. But trust me, way less annoying than losing all your photos and having some stranger read your texts. I use a pretty strong password, something I can remember but not super easy to guess. Auto-lock is another must-have. I set mine to like, 30 seconds. Seems short, but it makes a difference. You know, you put your phone down for a sec to grab something, and bam, it’s locked. One less thing to worry about.

I read somewhere that something like a gazillion phones get lost or stolen each year, and so many people have no protection whatsoever. Crazy, huh? Just setting these basic things up can save you a ton of headache, and maybe even heartbreak. So, yeah, secure your phone. It’s way easier than you think, and so worth it.
