Why is train charging slow?
Train charging can be slow or erratic due to poor power quality. The DC-AC conversion process creates electrical noise (harmonics) that interferes with fast charging and can even damage phone electronics. Avoid charging on trains if possible.
Ugh, train charging! Why is it always so slow? It’s like pulling teeth sometimes! I swear, I’ve plugged my phone in on a train, thinking I’d get a good boost before I got to my destination, and an hour later, it’s barely moved. Super frustrating, right? You’re looking at that tiny little battery icon, willing it to fill up, but nope.
Apparently, it’s something to do with the power quality. Like, the way the train converts its power from DC to AC creates all this electrical “noise” – they call it harmonics. And this messes with the charging, makes it slow and erratic. I even read somewhere, and this kinda freaked me out, that it can actually damage your phone’s electronics over time. I mean, who knows how true that is, but still… makes you think, doesn’t it?
Remember that time I was taking the train from Chicago to Milwaukee? My phone was practically dead, and I really needed to use it for maps and stuff when I arrived. Plugged it in, hoped for the best… total fail. Barely got any charge at all during the entire trip. I ended up having to beg a stranger for a portable charger! Embarrassing.
So yeah, if you can avoid charging your phone on a train, I would. It’s just not worth the hassle, or the potential risk. Maybe invest in a good portable power bank? Just sayin’.
