Am I supposed to tip the hotel shuttle driver?

Tipping hotel shuttle drivers isnt required, but its a nice gesture. While not expected in all countries, a small tip acknowledges good service, especially since many drivers wages are modest. Consider tipping for luggage assistance or longer trips.

Ugh, this is one of those things that always makes me a little awkward, right? Am I supposed to tip the hotel shuttle driver? Like, is there some secret code I’m missing?

I mean, it’s not like they’re waiters, constantly hovering. But then again, I remember this one time in Vegas – the driver, this guy named Tony, he practically wrestled my three suitcases into the trunk. He was a total champ, even when I was being a total klutz trying to manage my purse and phone at the same time. That definitely felt like it deserved something.

It’s not required, I get that. Apparently, it depends on the country too – something about cultural norms and how wages work. I read somewhere that a lot of these drivers only make a pretty modest salary, so a tip really makes a difference. I mean, who doesn’t like a little extra cash, especially for helping a frazzled traveler like me?

So, my rule of thumb? If they just drive me from point A to point B, maybe a small tip if they were particularly pleasant. But if they helped with luggage, or it was a longer, more complicated trip… yeah, definitely tipping. Think of it as a small thank you for making my arrival (or departure!) a bit less stressful. A few bucks can go a long way, I think. Besides, a little generosity never hurt anybody, did it?
