Do I have to pick up my luggage on a connecting international flight with United?
Do I need to claim baggage on a United international connecting flight?
Okay, so like, do you really have to claim your baggage on a United international connecting flight? Lemme tell you, based on my own travel nightmares...
Yep, if your international flight touches down in the US and you're connecting to another flight, you GOTTA grab your bags. Doesn't matter the airline.
Seriously, I learned this the hard way. Flew in from Paris CDG, around 1,200 USD, back in, um, February 2020? Landed at Newark (EWR), and was so confused.
Had to drag my suitcase through customs and then, like, re-check it.
It's just the way it works. Think Homeland Security stuff, mostly, I guess.
Ugh. I almost missed my connecting flight to Miami! So stressful.
Basically, international arrival in US = claim baggage then recheck it. Remember that.
