Does the NYC Subway have free transfers?
Okay, so about the NYC subway and free transfers... yes, they totally have them! It's a lifesaver, honestly. Imagine having to pay every time you switched lines? Insanity! Thankfully, the OMNY system does the same free transfer thing as the old MetroCards did. Remember those? I used to have a whole chain of them dangling from my bag, haha. Anyway, before MetroCards, I guess they actually had little paper transfers, can you believe it? So old-school! I vaguely remember my mom messing around with those when I was a kid. MetroCards really were a step up, though, and not just because they got rid of those flimsy paper things. They really opened up the free transfer system between subways and buses, which was huge. Think about it – being able to hop on a bus after your subway ride without paying extra? Seriously helpful, especially if, like me, you sometimes get off at the wrong stop and need a bus to get where you actually meant to go. Don't tell me I'm the only one! So, yeah, free transfers are a definite yes for the NYC subway. It's one of those little things that makes the city, you know, work.
