Does Uber charge when cancelling?
Ugh, don't even get me started on Uber cancellations! Yes, they totally charge you sometimes, and it's the worst. Like, one time, I was literally walking out the door to go to this concert downtown, and my friend texted that it was cancelled. I had already ordered an Uber, so I frantically tried to cancel it. Too late! They still dinged me a couple of bucks. ???? It's not a huge amount, but it's the principle of the thing, you know?
It seems super dependent on the situation, though. Sometimes you get lucky and they don't charge you anything. Other times, bam! Fee. I think it depends on things like how close the driver is (which, how are you supposed to know?!) and if it’s, like, surge pricing or something. I’ve heard it’s also worse during rush hour or when there aren't many drivers around, which, again, makes sense... but still. So frustrating! Isn't it the worst when your plans change at the last minute, and you're left feeling like you've just thrown money away? I guess it's fair to the drivers, they're taking time out of their day, after all. But still... it stings.
