Does Uber charge you for cancelling an order?

Ugh, tell me about it! Uber cancellations, right? So annoying! Yes, they can totally sting you with a fee if you cancel, but it's usually only after a driver's already been assigned to you. Like, they've accepted the ride and are probably already heading your way. Makes sense, I guess... their time's valuable, right? But I've totally been there. One time, I was rushing to cancel because my friend suddenly called offering a ride, and – wham! – cancellation fee. It's like, really? I felt so bad for the driver, but also, it was like five bucks! Talk about adding insult to injury when you're already scrambling to change plans. It’s such a little thing, but man, it can feel like a punch to the gut when you’re not expecting it, you know?
