How to Check Your Passport Status

Have you applied for a passport and are eagerly awaiting its arrival? You can easily track the status of your application online or through other methods.

Online Tracking

To track your passport application online, visit the official passport status website: passportstatus.state.gov. Enter your application number and your last name to view the status of your application. This service is available 14 business days after you have submitted your application.

Phone Inquiry

If you prefer to call, you can reach the National Passport Information Center (NPIC) at 1-877-487-2778. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM Eastern Time.

Email Inquiry

You can also email the NPIC at [email protected] with your application number and any questions you may have. Please note that email responses may take some time.

TDD/TTY Users

TDD/TTY users can dial 1-888-874-7793 to reach the NPIC.

Additional Information

When checking the status of your passport, you may encounter the following statuses:

• Received: Your application and supporting documents have been received by the Department of State.
• In Process: Your application is being reviewed by a passport specialist.
• Approved: Your passport has been approved and is being printed.
• Shipped: Your passport has been printed and is in transit to your address.
• Delivered: Your passport has been delivered to your address.
