How can I send money in Vietnam?
Sending money to Vietnam, huh? I've had to do that a few times, so I can definitely chime in. Honestly, my go-to would probably be a bank transfer, or maybe Wise (formerly TransferWise – ever heard of it?). I could use a debit or credit card, but… ugh, the fees! And security is always a little niggling worry at the back of my mind. Plus, are things like Apple Pay and Google Pay even that big over there? I'm not so sure. I remember trying to use Apple Pay in a tiny little bakery in Hoi An once, and they looked at me like I was from another planet! It was kinda funny, actually. Anyway, I feel way more secure with a good old bank transfer. And Wise is usually pretty decent with exchange rates. I used them to send money to my cousin in Hanoi last year and it worked like a charm. At the end of the day though, it really depends on who you're sending the money to and what works best for them, right? I mean, my grandma in the Mekong Delta wouldn't know what to do with an online transfer, so for her, it's definitely a bank deposit. It's all about figuring out what's easiest for everyone involved.
