How can I send money in Vietnam?

Okay, so if I needed to send money to Vietnam, Id probably lean towards a bank transfer or something like Wise. While debit/credit cards could work, Id be worried about high fees and potential security issues. Plus, things like Apple/Google Pay might not be as widely used there, you know? A bank transfer feels safer, and Wise generally gives you pretty good exchange rates. Ultimately, it depends on who Im sending to and whats most convenient for them, though.

Sending money to Vietnam, huh? I’ve had to do that a few times, so I can definitely chime in. Honestly, my go-to would probably be a bank transfer, or maybe Wise (formerly TransferWise – ever heard of it?). I could use a debit or credit card, but… ugh, the fees! And security is always a little niggling worry at the back of my mind. Plus, are things like Apple Pay and Google Pay even that big over there? I’m not so sure. I remember trying to use Apple Pay in a tiny little bakery in Hoi An once, and they looked at me like I was from another planet! It was kinda funny, actually. Anyway, I feel way more secure with a good old bank transfer. And Wise is usually pretty decent with exchange rates. I used them to send money to my cousin in Hanoi last year and it worked like a charm. At the end of the day though, it really depends on who you’re sending the money to and what works best for them, right? I mean, my grandma in the Mekong Delta wouldn’t know what to do with an online transfer, so for her, it’s definitely a bank deposit. It’s all about figuring out what’s easiest for everyone involved.
