How do I change my navigation settings for Uber?

Ugh, changing Ubers navigation is such a pain! I always fumble around. First, you gotta tap your picture in the top right (why isnt it more obvious?!). Then, go to Account, then App Settings, and FINALLY Navigation. Seriously, Uber, could you bury it any deeper? At least its there, I guess. Hopefully, I wont need to change it again anytime soon.

Okay, so let’s talk about Uber navigation. Honestly, navigating the app to change the navigation settings? That’s a trip in itself. I feel your pain, believe me. I’ve been there, sweating over my phone trying to switch to Waze because, let’s face it, sometimes Google Maps just isn’t cutting it.

Here’s the deal, and it’s as convoluted as you described:

  1. The Tap of Mystery: You’re right, first you have to tap on your profile picture in the top right corner. Why they couldn’t make this button a bit more prominent is beyond me. It blends in! It’s like they’re actively trying to hide the settings. I sometimes forget it’s even there.

  2. The Account Labyrinth: Then it’s the delve into “Account”. Okay, logical enough, settings often live in the account section. But still, this adds another layer to the digging.

  3. The App Settings Black Hole: “App Settings”. Okay, we’re getting warmer. This is where things are starting to make a little more sense, or maybe I’m just getting used to the maze.

  4. FINALLY: Navigation! And finally, finally you arrive at the “Navigation” section. It’s like reaching the summit after a grueling hike!

Honestly, Uber, what’s with the treasure hunt?

Why even bother changing the navigation, you ask? Well, here’s my personal take. I’m a big Waze fan. I find it tends to be better at real-time traffic updates, and honestly, I prefer the interface. According to data from Statista, Waze boasts a global user base of over 140 million monthly active users as of 2021. That popularity can’t be a coincidence. The crowd-sourced information on traffic, accidents, and even police presence (yes, Waze users report that!) can be a lifesaver, especially if you’re trying to get somewhere quickly. Google Maps is good too, of course. But for me, if I see even the slightest chance of unexpected delays, Waze is my go-to.

Is there a better way? Probably. I wish Uber would give us a dedicated “Navigation” button right on the main screen. Or, even better, let us set our preferred navigation app outside of the Uber app completely. Maybe link it to our phone’s default navigation setting. That would be revolutionary!

My Verdict? Yes, changing the navigation is a pain. It’s buried deep. But it’s worth doing, especially if you have a preferred navigation app like Waze. Set it and (hopefully) forget it. But be prepared for the next time you might need to go through that process again – because let’s be honest, Uber probably won’t make it easier anytime soon. I know I’ll be reaching for this article again at some point! And just remember, you’re not alone in this frustrating journey. We’re all in this Uber navigation setting maze together. Good luck, and drive safe!
